The Whitewave Wigwam® holiday site is an idyllic and very tiny spot on the Trotternish peninsula, Kilmuir, on the stunning Isle of Skye. Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this beautiful area is perfect for nature lovers. Rich as it is in wildlife, with stunning scenery all around, this little, peaceful site is the perfect base for enjoying all things outdoors.
Whitewave Wigwams® are tucked away in the grounds of the Whitewave Outdoor Centre. The Big Chief cabins sleep up to 5 and are well insulated and double glazed for a warm and cosy break. They also boast electric heating and luxury foam mattresses for a great night’s sleep after a busy day. The shower and toilets are accessed through the outdoor centre which is close by.
The Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® cabins sleep up to 4 and have the added feature of an en-suite toilet and shower as well as a fully fitted kitchenette. All cabins have their own picnic bench, firepit, BBQ and views of the big, wide sky above, making it the perfect venue for your breakfast at sunrise or supper at sunset.
The site is perfectly positioned for trying out some new activities at the Whitewave Outdoor Activity Centre. They run regular activity sessions for adults and children of all abilities for things like kayaking, archery and abseiling. You don’t have to get involved in any of the activities to stay in the Wigwam® cabins, but if you like to get your adrenaline pumping, this really is the perfect spot for you.
If that all sounds a little hectic, you can enjoy the landscape in a much more peaceful way by walking along the coastal path to the Rubha Hunish viewpoint. Bring your binoculars and some patience and you could be rewarded with sightings of majestic dolphins and whales.
You can’t visit the Isle of Skye without exploring the island a little, and Whitewave is less than a ten-minute drive from Uig. Here, you can take sea safari boat trips or a walk to the hidden Rha waterfalls.
The whole island is well known for its delicious seafood, with lots of great restaurants such as the Old School Restaurant and the Three Chimneys, both less than an hour’s drive away from the campsite. Less formal inns and restaurants are sprinkled across the island, and if you find yourself craving some live music, Whitewave is less than 30 minutes away from Portree, the island’s capital village, where inns and pubs put on live folk music shows on a regular basis.
