Springhill Farm Wigwam® Cabins

Sitting amongst rich, green farmland on the edge of the Northumberland coast, you’ll find Wigwam® Holidays Springhill Farm. It’s a treasure of a site offering both countryside and coastal pursuits and a range of accommodation options from glamping pods to camping pitches. Just five minutes from the nearest beach, it won’t take long to relax into your holiday, and yet it’s less than 2 hours drive from Edinburgh, 1 hour from Newcastle and thirty-five minutes from Berwick-Upon-Tweed.

Springhill Farm is a large, scenic site which has been well thought through to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. The site has been divided into sections with distinct areas for holiday cottages, lodges, motorhomes, caravans and tents so there’s lots of choice for accommodation. The motorhome and camping areas are open-plan with lots of space between pitches for a sense of privacy.

If you enjoy camping but want something more luxurious, then you’ll love the beautiful glamping area - a small and peaceful nook on the edge of the larger site. This little gem is surrounded by trees and has a secluded, private feel to it. Pretty wooden Wigwam® cabins are dotted around the area, each with their own firepit and BBQ area and private picnic benches. These wooden camping cabins have electricity and heating and are double-glazed, insulated and kitted out with luxury mattresses for a cosy glamping break in Northumberland.

Springhill Farm offers two types of glamping pods to choose from - the Big Chief Wigwam® cabin which sleeps up to 5 and the Running Water Wigwam® cabin which sleeps up to 4 and has en-suite toilet and kitchen facilities.

You can also book into one of the wooden lodges or a holiday cottage, so there are lots of options to choose from to suit your holiday budget, time and group size.

Springhill Farm is surrounded by miles of quiet country roads and beautiful paths - perfect for cycling or strolling along, and you’re never far from a beautiful view. Watching as the sun sets out to sea, or behind the rolling Cheviot Hills, you’ll soon see why this area has been recognised as one of Oustanding Natural Beauty.

With such beauty all around the site, you’re spoiled for choice when it comes to outdoor pursuits. Trek through the Cheviot Hills, spend a day at Seahouses beach, journey to the bigger towns and cities or keep close to your glamping pod and enjoy a rest while the kids play at the onsite park.

Real adventures can wait, but if you’re itching to get started, pack a picnic and set on a boat trip to the Farne Islands. The journey is exciting for children and adults alike.  You’ll spot seals and sea birds aplenty as you make your way over.

Once you shore up, we highly recommend joining in on the National Trust’s Inner Farne wildlife walk. You’ll find terns nesting in St Cuthbert’s Chapel and thousands of guillemots and kittiwakes flying around the Lighthouse Cliff viewpoint. Boardwalk paths will lead you to the puffin burrows where you can watch puffins - and possibly their chicks - go about their puffin business!

If you want to make a day of it, take a short drive from the harbour to the castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick - neither should be missed. These castles have been fixtures in the area for over 1400 years and there’s lots to see and do in both, so allow plenty of time for the tours through the galleries, the impressive grounds, the family activities and, of course, the tea rooms!
