The small collection of 5 picturesque wooden glamping pods that make up Solway View Wigwams® site on the edge of the Solway View Caravan and Camping site. There are four Wigwam® cabins, each with stunning views across lush green countryside to the Solway Firth, part of the River Dee estuary. The site is part of a working farm and is tucked away in a peaceful setting, surrounded by trees and country roads.
The cabins have one of the best views on the whole site and you can enjoy it morning, noon or night from outside your glamping pod, either tucking into something delicious at your own picnic table or sitting around a glorious campfire, toasting marshmallows and gazing at the stars.
When you step inside the Wigwam® cabin, you’ll immediately sense the warmth and comfort that has been designed into every nook and cranny. Insulation in the floors and walls keep the heat in and the electric panel heaters quickly top up when needed. There’s a mini kitchen with a microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge and even an en-suite bathroom. There is a double bed and a pull out sofa bed, both with comfortable mattresses and the whole glamping pod sleeps up to 5.
You’ll soon discover that around the glamping site are little woodland walks and farm paths. Perfect for a stroll and to stretch your legs. The nearest town is Kirkudbright (pronounced kir-coo-bree), which is a beautiful little place to while away a morning or afternoon. The town is known as the Artist Town of Kirkudbright so as you would expect, there are lots of lovely galleries and exhibition spaces and independent shops selling local crafts and art.
This is where you’ll pick up glamping essentials for a tasty breakfast or a sizzling BBQ later in the day.
There’s so much to do in this wonderful part of Scotland - with a strong focus on being outdoors and enjoying the natural landscape. If you are glamping with kids a trip to Mabie Farm Park is lots of fun - bouncy castles, bumpy slides and trampolines are dotted around the site and there is a big park, farm-themed activities and a tasty tea room.
To really explore the great outdoors head to Galloway Forest Park. it’s a beautiful space to walk or bike - with many different forests and dells.
