If you enjoy outdoor living, chances are glamping on the Isle of Skye is high up on your bucket list. This beautiful island is a favourite of many holidaymakers, tourists and day-trippers alike, and when you spend some time in this magical place, you’ll soon understand why.
Glamping at Shiloh Wigwams® will make the experience all the more stunning. This is less of a glamping site and more of a little haven in a truly inspiring location. If your glamping must-haves include stunning views, a rural island setting and enjoying space and time away from the crowds, then this is definitely the place for you!
With just one warm and luxurious glamping cabin onsite, Shiloh Wigwams® is a true rural idyll. The picturesque Wigwam® cabin is tucked away on the perimeter of the garden of a B&B.
Inside, you’ll find an en-suite bathroom and a fully-fitted kitchenette with a dining table and chairs. The cabin is fully insulated with double glazed windows and double patio doors. There is electric heating throughout for a truly cosy and relaxing glamping experience.
The Shiloh Wigwam® cabin has its own private outdoor dining area with a picnic table and bench as well as a fire pit and BBQ area. From here, you can kick back and enjoy some tasty food al-fresco while you marvel at the seemingly never-ending views across the rugged landscape and over to the Cuillin mountains. It’s a view that constantly changes with the light and the weather, so it’s one you’ll never tire of.
This almost-secret glamping site is just two miles from Broadford, one of Skye’s larger townships. Here, you can collect cash from the bank, pick up something from the chemist should you need it and pop into the local shops for glamping essentials to bring back home to your Wigwam® cabin. You can also stop off at the local pub to enjoy the fine ales and delicious food on offer if you don’t fancy self-catering!
Being so close to Broadford gives you lots of options for activities and entertainment, too, as the township is a central hub for the whole of the island. Boat trips to Eigg and Rhum are always entertaining - especially if a friendly otter pops up to say hello en-route! There are both self-guided and guided walking tours through the Cuillins or, if you want something a little less strenuous, spend your afternoons gathering shells and building sandcastles on the area’s many beaches. One of the best, Ashaig Beach, is just a 20-minute walk from the glamping site.
When you’ve finished exploring the incredible natural landscapes, there are lots of wonderful little museums to visit. The Skye Museum of Island Life and the Colbost Folk Museum will take you on a journey through the ages and give you great insight into what life was like on the island, and the gift shops are sure to turn up an unusual memento or two to remind you of your Skye glamping adventure.
For those who enjoy a bit of retail therapy, it’s worth visiting the Isle of Skye Market Square in Broadford. Here, you can buy Skye Candles or Harris Tweed products, locally made jewellery and other treasures such as fossils and unusual antiques.
