Northside Farm Wigwams®

Description

Glamping at Northside Farm Wigwam® Orchard is a true rural hideaway. The site is tucked away on a pretty orchard to the West of Northside Farm. For those looking for a peaceful glamping break near Newcastle - you’ve found the perfect site!

What makes this site truly outstanding is its location. Surrounded by green fields, farmland and forests, this little slice of the countryside is only 20 minutes drive from Newcastle and 40 minutes from Sunderland.

This means that a glamping holiday at Northside Farm Wigwam® Orchard is the best of both worlds. Calm and relaxing days connecting with nature onsite or in the surrounding areas or making use of the activities and adventures available nearby.

Northside Farm Wigwam® Orchard is a collection of ten picturesque wooden glamping pods. The Wigwam® cabins are warm and peaceful - insulation in walls and floors and double glazing in the windows help to keep the heat in. There’s electricity in the cabin and a panel heater for those days where you need a top-up. The cabins can sleep up to 5 and have sleeping platforms with comfortable mattresses that fold into seating by day.

The cabins have all the essentials you need to make your glamping break go smoothly - a kettle, toaster, microwave and fridge mean you can rustle up a tasty breakfast or quick lunch easily and each cabin has an outdoor dining area for your alfresco meals. Near to your picnic table, you’ll find a fire pit and BBQ - the perfect place to relax in the evening and unwind after a busy (or not-so-busy) day of glamping.

Every Wigwam® cabin has accessible wheelchair ramp access and there is a fully accessible bathroom in the shower block. You’ll find the bathroom and washing facilities close to the orchard. Other facilities onsite include a well-kept children’s play area and a secured paddock for playing games. Perfect to let the young ones roam free while you relax. The country lanes and paths are great for getting out and stretching your legs, and if you’ve brought your bikes there’s nothing better than taking a gentle cycle to explore the area.

The site is just meters away from the Hadrian’s Wall Trail. Guests often pack a lunch and head off in the morning to explore the wall and if you don’t want to walk the whole way, hop on the Hadrian’s Wall bus, which drives along the full length of the wall and back again. Ideal if you’re glamping with someone with additional support needs.

For Roman history enthusiasts, this area has a lot to offer. If you are taking the car, Corbridge Roman Town is a 14-minute drive from the site and is an incredible opportunity to take you back to Roman Britain. This little town was a hive of activity until the 5th century when the Romans finally left Britain. Walk through the streets and experience a slice of Roman British life.

Another wonderfully immersive way to experience the history of this area is to spend the day at Beamish Open Air Museum. This is a museum like no other. Inspired by Scandinavian folk museums, this wonderful place sets out to show visitors how ordinary people lived. Shops, homes, roads, meeting spaces, cafes and transport are all lovingly maintained and date back to the 1800s. There are different exhibitions to keep things changing and there are themed and seasonal events - such as ice skating in winter or New Year’s events. A fascinating place!

If you’ve had enough of history and you’d just like to get out and explore, the glamping site is a 40-minute drive to Whitley Beach which is a wonderful day out and of course, there’s access to the miles of Northumberland Coastal paths for walking and bird and wildlife spotting.
