A glamping holiday can be many things to different people and often, the form your holiday takes comes down to the location. If you like to base yourself on a site that allows for easy access to a wide range of great holiday activities, then Mains Farm could be just the ticket.
The site is a traditional mix of tent, motorhome and camper van pitches with a few surprises along the way. 26 wooden glamping Wigwam® cabins are dotted throughout the site, each with its own outdoor dining area and picnic bench. There are eleven en-suite luxury cabins with views across the wide, green fields - a lovely view for breakfasting. All cabins are kitted out with nearly everything you need to make your stay as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.
As well as the en-suite cabins, there are another 15 cabins that sleep up to 5 people each. They have all the essentials inside - luxury matresses, a fridge, kettle and toaster - and are insulated and heated for a cosy night’s rest. These cabins are close to the toilet and shower block and are a short walk from the fun cowboy themed communal kitchen and dining area. Yeehaw!
There’s lots of fun to be had on Mains Farm, with a children’s play area and bike tracks to whizz around. The village of Thornhill is a short walk from the site, with little shops and pubs to while away an hour or two.
What makes Mains Farm really stand out is its location as a base for fun and adventure. Stirling is just a twenty-minute drive in the car, so Stirling Castle, Stirling Old Town Jail and the National Wallace Monument are all easy to get to. Also nearby is the Engine Shed, a family-friendly and very interactive heritage centre that brings Scotland’s heritage alive.
Blair Drummond is also very close to Mains Farm, just five miles along the A873. The small rural community is probably best known for the Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park, which is a great day out for the whole family.
Beyond the exoticism of the safari park, Cosy Outdoors recommends a stop off at Briarlands Farm in Blair Drummond. There’s lots of farm-themed fun and activities to be enjoyed here, and you can even pick your own fruit and feed the animals. The tea room is a real treat, too.
And no trip to this area is complete without a journey through ‘Rob Roy Country’ on the Bliss Trail. Take a scenic road trip north of Stirling into the scenic Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Stop off at Balquhidder, Strathyre and Saint Fillans and follow the Bliss Trail map to spot the commissioned artwork along the way. If you’re an Instagram fan, this is definitely a great opportunity to up your ‘gram game!
There’s a lot to do in and around Mains Farm, so let us give you some advice: don’t forget to take some time to simply relax around your picturesque and peaceful glamping cabin. Light a fire in your firepit, cook up a tasty feast and enjoy some serious downtime in this lovely spot in the Scottish countryside.
