Home of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, Lee Valley Regional Park is a 26-mile long, 10,000-acre park that stretches from Greater London to the town of Ware in Hertfordshire. This makes the Lee Valley Caravan Park a great location for those wanting to escape the big city as well as for those wishing to see it without getting lost in its noise. Jump on the train after work or sightseeing and in less than an hour, you could be enjoying the wonderful smell of fresh air and listening to the sound of birdsong.
The site is based on a large grassy field where tents can be pitched and children can play. Around its edges, with a view over the field and surrounding trees, are the Wigwam® cabins and safari tents. Wake up to the babble of water in the River Lee and the sound of children playing before walking out onto your very own deck and basking in the morning sun.
If you run out of any supplies or forget anything you needed at home, take a stroll down to the onsite supply shop before heading back for a game of frisbee or a cup of coffee. At night, you can toast marshmallows on an open fire while you catch up with friends and family. All under the dark night sky with only the fire to keep you warm.
Lee Valley is in the beating heart of the country, so you won’t be at a loss for things to do if you fancy heading away from the site. The town of Hoddesdon is just a 5-minute drive and less than half an hour’s walk away. Hoddesdon was once used as an old coach stop between London and Cambridge, and it hasn’t lost any of that traditional English character. Take a walk or cycle along the nearby canal before enjoying some cold beer and a classic pub dinner.
As mentioned above, the Lee Valley was home to the 2012 London Olympic Games, so why not go see the stadiums and centres where all the action happened? This would be a perfect outing for the keen sports fans or those looking for a day trip as these sights take over an hour by train and just under an hour by car to get to. If you’re up for it, though, it makes for a great day out with lots to see and do. You can go for a swim in the very same pool that Michael Phelps won another 6 medals or have a go on the world’s longest slide at 178 metres! The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has something for everyone to enjoy.
The Lee Valley Caravan Park is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away with friends and family. Escape the hectic streets of the city and replace them with your own wood deck and a beautiful grassy field.
