Herding Hill Farm Wigwams® is a pretty wooden glamping village which makes up part of the Herding Hill Farm Camping and Caravan Park. It’s a wonderful site for a glamping break in Northumberland.
The Wigwam® village consists of 17 picturesque glamping pods which range in size, capacity and facilities. For those looking for a glamping break with added luxury and all the mod cons built-in then you’ll love the Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® cabins. They come with en-suite bathroom and shower facilities as well as a fully fitted kitchenette and dining area. If you’re looking for even more luxury, then check out the added wood-fired hot tub facility. Seven of the en-suite cabins come with hot tubs, providing the ideal spot for you to unwind while your little ones live out their fantasies as kings and queens of the castle at the play park!
Also available are Big Chief and Wee Brave Wigwam® cabins. They come with glamping essentials such as a toaster and a kettle, without the en-suite bathroom and hot running water facilities.
All cabins are toasty warm, with heating and electricity throughout. Luxury mattresses make for a great night’s sleep and you’ll have your own fire pit and BBQ to enjoy an evening stargazing and marshmallow toasting before you hit the hay.
The site itself is kitted out with all the facilities you need for a glamping adventure with an onsite shop, a well-thought-out children’s play area (pirate ships, wooden forts, sandpits etc) and a petting farm with pigs, alpacas and loads of other creatures (including fluffy guinea pigs!). The washing facilities are next-level luxury with heated flooring and a sauna! There’s plenty of space for chilling out onsite, and for letting the little ones in your glamping party explore and roam free.
Being just ten minute’s walk from Hadrian’s Wall you won’t be surprised to learn the area is steeped in history. The glamping site is just one mile from the wall and the nearby Vindolanda so we highly recommend a day following in the footsteps of the Roman army. The visitor centre has lots of information and interactive exhibitions to truly put yourself right in the Roman way of life.
Herding Hill Wigwams® is a four-minute drive to the town of Haltwhistle. The town has a great swimming pool for a fun splash about and there are lots of great cafes and pubs nearby for a delicious bite to eat.
If you like splashing about in a more serious way be sure to visit Merling Brae Waterski Centre where you can take to the water and learn how to waterski for a couple of hours.
Talkin Tarn Country Park is another great location for some outdoor and water-based activities. For a gentle outdoors experience, you can fish on the lake here, or hire a wooden rowing boat and make your way across the water in a relaxing way. Thrill-seekers are looked after here too. You can windsurf, sail or canoe on the water too. If you prefer to spend time away from water, there are lots of wonderful walks and trails to enjoy or you can hire bikes from the park shop and see some beautiful countryside this way.
