Wigwam® Holidays Charnwood Forest sits deep in the north-west Leicestershire countryside and offers six en suite glamping pods for hire, one with a wood-fired hot tub. In such a tranquil setting it can feel like you’re miles from anywhere but in reality, you’re just twenty minutes from the city of Leicester and five minutes from the M1J22. This means it doesn’t take long to get away from it all for a relaxing and peaceful glamping break.
This is no ordinary camping site. Each cabin sits among young trees, with lots of privacy between glampers staying in different pods. The whole area is landscaped and sits around a large pond where guests can spot a wide range of wildlife.
On sunny days, the outdoor picnic area is great for family breakfasts, a relaxing coffee or simply sitting down to read. Each cabin has a kitchenette area with a kettle, toaster, fridge and crockery so you can pack light.
Surrounding Wigwam® Holidays Charnwood Forest is an ancient woodland with a stunning carpet of bluebells, daffodils and many more wildflowers throughout the year. The impressive 800 acre Bradgate Park within walking distance is not to be missed. Nature trails, wildlife walks and cycle tracks run throughout, so there are lots of activities around for nature lovers and walkers.
If you’d like to treat yourself to an afternoon tea or a refreshing pint, the busy village of Newtown Linford is a short walk from the site. Alternatively, you can pick up tasty BBQ treats from the local farm shop before wandering back to your cabin to spend the evening enjoying a family BBQ. A Co-op is also available locally in the nearby village of Markfield. As the sun sets, it’s time to light your campfire and relax – don’t forget the marshmallows!
Beyond the woodlands around Wigwam® Holidays Charnwood Forest, guests can spend the day hopping on and off the steam trains on the Great Central Railway. Sunset tours and events are available at Bradgate Park which is the ancestral home of the ill-fated Lady Jane Grey who was Queen of England for just nine days. A little further afield is the city of Leicester with shops, restaurants, museums and theatres. Families with children will also enjoy the National Space Centre and the Social Climbing bouldering and climbing wall.
After a busy day exploring the area, it’s a pleasure to come home to your luxury en suite glamping cabin and a hot shower. The Wigwam® cabins have electric heating, keeping you warm even on the chillier days. Families, doggy pals and large groups are all welcome at Wigwam® Holidays Charnwood Forest, so make the most of your holiday by bringing your loved ones along.
