Wigwam® Holidays Brampton is located in Cumbria, just a 27-minute drive from Carlisle and a 4-minute drive from the tranquil village of Brampton. Complete with a fish farm, a farm shop and private hot tubs, you’ll have everything you need right on your doorstep for a fun-filled weekend! The site’s seven Running Water Deluxe Wigwam® Cabins are located at New Mills Trout Fishery, dotted around its fully-stocked lake. Every cabin enjoys its own private decking area with a view over the lakes and rivers that make this site such a stunning location.
Like most CosyOutdoor locations, Wigwam® Holidays Brampton prides itself on being a great holiday destination for the whole family. The ‘fun fishing pond is a brilliant place to give your little ones the chance to catch a real fish! The pond is stocked with the fishery’s very own species of rainbow trouts. There’s always staff on hand to help show them how to get one and what to do with it once it’s been caught. Fishing equipment is available from the shop, so there’s nothing to stop them from catching dinner for everyone!
For the older or more experienced, the fly fishing lake is stocked with full-tailed rainbow, blue, tiger and brown trout up to 25lbs. With lessons available from fully licensed coaches, this fishery caters for the novice and expert alike.
If you fancy a day trip, the Lake District National Park, one of the most beautiful areas in the country, is less than an hour’s drive away. For the adventurous, there are loads of incredible walks and hikes around the area with incredible scenic views off the mountains and lakes that make this such a popular outdoor destination. If this sounds like a lot of hard work, you could always just take a scenic drive, stop for a pub lunch and then head back to your warm and cosy Wigwam® glamping pod for a great night’s sleep.
There’s also lots to do in the town of Carlisle. Taken over by the Romans in the first century AD, turned into a cathedral town in the 12th century and then a key centre of industry during the industrial revolution, Carlisle has a fascinating history that makes it well worth a visit.
Perhaps one of its best historical sights is the cathedral. With huge stained glass windows, intricate stone carvings and a beautifully painted ceiling, Carlisle Cathedral is a remarkable piece of architecture. The Cathedral is open from 7:30 till 6.15 on weekdays and 7:30 till 5 on weekends. There are even free tours available during busier times to help you get to grips with its unique history.
