Bodrugan
Description
Spending time in Cornwall is one of life’s great pleasures, and if you haven’t yet experienced a glamping holiday Cornish style, then what are you waiting for? Stunning scenery, wonderful local food and warm, friendly locals are the secret ingredients for a truly special glamping holiday.
One of our favourite Cornish glamping spots is Wigwam® Holidays Bodrugan. It’s idyllic, peaceful and beautiful - the perfect place to hide away from the busy tourist areas Cornwall is well known for, yet close enough to enjoy the sights and scenery whenever you like.
Wigwam® Holidays Bodrugan is tucked away on the (very pretty) edges of a traditional working farm. It’s surrounded by lush green countryside and nestled among mature trees and meadows. There are six wooden glamping pods - each set within its own, pretty enclosure, giving you a sense of privacy.
The glamping pods themselves offer little luxuries, like en-suite washing and toilet facilities, a fully-fitted kitchen area, heating, electricity and double glazing. Additionally, the beds come with luxury mattresses for a great night’s sleep and each Wigwam® cabin has an outside dining area with views across the paddocks and out to sea.
Wigwam® Holidays Bodrugan has an onsite reception area that sells essential items such as logs for your own firepit and BBQ as well as delicious meats for the grill sourced from the local area.
Spend your days on the site playing games and meandering along the nearby coastal paths or splashing around the site’s heated indoor pool, and at night, gather around a warm fire. After a few relaxing days on this idyllic site, you might even struggle to find the motivation to head out to explore the wider area!
If you can pull yourself away from the comfort and luxury of this site, there’s plenty of fun and adventures to be had in the surrounding area. Wigwam® Holidays Bodrugan is close to a number of lovely sandy beaches, perfect for unwinding with a good book or finding some thrills on a kayak or a canoe.
A trip to the nearby town of Mevagissey will uncover some real gems. The town has a beautiful harbour and lots of little shops, cafes and pubs to while away the day if the weather isn’t great. The local pubs often have bands and other entertainment on, so keep an eye out and if you find yourself in town while the annual Sea Shanty Festival is on, don’t miss out on the fun.
Make time for a few hours in the Mevagissey Museum, as well! It’s a wonderful treasure trove of artefacts and exhibits which bring the history of this lovely fishing town and its surrounding area to life.
If you enjoy spending time exploring stately homes, you’re in for a treat with Caerhays Castle and Estate. This English Heritage Grade 1 listed building has been inhabited since the 1300s, and exhibitions and tours throughout the castle will introduce you to the fascinating history of the castle.
There are also guided tours to take you through the wonderful grounds of the castle. Here, delightful gardens flow into the busy farm area, leading you to the nature trails, woodlands and coastal paths of the wider area.
There’s so much to enjoy throughout the estate that you’ll definitely need a rest afterwards. Thankfully, there are two wonderful tea rooms on the estate to help you do just that. The castle and estate are only open during certain times of the year, so do check the website before heading off.
Peace, tranquillity and connecting with nature might not be included in everyone’s idea of a wonderful holiday, particularly if you’re glamping with kids. But fear not - Kidzworld Adventure Centre is neither tranquil or peaceful, but it sure is a lot of fun!
The centre has something for kids of all ages (even those only young at heart), with soft play, , trampolining, sky wires, roller skating and much more on offer. The centre is just a 30 minutes’ drive from Wigwam® Holidays Bodrugan and close to the town of St Austell.
Holidays in Cornwall are truly special times, and it’s impossible to experience it all on just one holiday. You’ll soon see why people across the UK come back to the area for more time and again. And when you do the same, be sure to set up base at Wigwam® Holidays Bodrugan for the very best of times.
