Ballintuim
Description
Ballintuim Wigwam® Lodge is situated adjacent to a working sheep farm, sits in an envious rural location in the Glen of Strathardle with stunning views over the hills. Just 10 miles from Blairgowrie and 15 miles away from the very popular tourist town of Pitlochry, this is the perfect setting for a holiday in Perthshire.
The surrounding area gives guests the opportunity to get close to nature whether a walker, hiker, fisherman, biker or guests just looking for a relaxed location to unwind and escape everyday life for a well-deserved break.
Located in the grounds of the property at Balmyle Coach House, Ballintuim, the single lodge is a fully insulated wooden building designed to bring together functionality with comfort, bringing the outside in without compromising on style. Our lodge comprises of a large living area, equipped with a functional kitchen, eating area and a relaxing sitting area with pull out sofa, a separate shower room and a double bedroom. A patio area to the front provides a relaxing outdoor seating area, wood fired hot tub with added Air Bubble System, Hydro Massage System and LED Lighting and there is also a fire pit for you equipped with a barbeque.
In a great location on the Cataran Walking Trail , which is very popular with tourists, walkers come from all over the world to walk this 64 mile circular route over approximately 5 days.
Glenshee Snow Sports Centre is just 21 miles away, also attracting walkers and cyclists in the summer. Cairnwell chairlift is open all year round along with tea@the shee café at the base of Glenshee.
The local roads are very popular with motorcyclists, the North East 250 which starts very nearby at Spital of Glenshee and runs through the Cairngorms National Park, was established in 2017 and is already a well-travelled bikers route.
Centrally located in beautiful Perthshire, this is the perfect base for a day trip to Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen which are all within an hour and a half drive. More locally, the cities of Dundee and Perth can be reached within 45 minutes.
Blairgowrie is just 10 miles away and has a large supermarket and good shopping. There is a farmer’s market held in the town square on the last Saturday of each month.
16 miles along with A924 is Pitlochry. Located on the River Tummel, Pitlochry is one of Scotland’s top tourist attractions with its shopping, fishing, golf, festival theatre and Pitlochry Dam to name but a few must visit locations. Just a short drive further and the tourist destinations of Aberfeldy, Dunkeld, Blair Athol, Kenmore, Loch Tay and Loch Rannoch can be found.
The walks and trails of Glenshee and Strathardle take walkers and mountain bikers to areas of outstanding beauty and scenery which are rich in wildlife.
Fishing is a big feature of this area with a large river network running from the hills and lochs for salmon and trout fishing, permits for which are available locally.
There are many Highland Games held locally and also at Braemar “home of the highland games” attended by Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal Family.
This is an ideal destination where visitors can base themselves to explore the whole of Scotland.
Although you will find our Lodge very well equipped for self-catering, you may prefer to eat out locally. We would recommend The Kirky Bar and Restaurant located in the nearby village of Kirkmichael or there are also many fantastic eateries in Blairgowrie and Pitlochry. The village shop in Kirkmichael offers a wide variety of groceries and alcohol as well as having a tea room.
